We Buy Cars (Pty) Ltd (“WeBuyCars”)
Categories of vehicles for sale:
At WeBuyCars, there are thousands of vehicles for sale, ranging from nearly new, with very low kilometres to well-used cars with substantial kilometres and wear.
At WeBuyCars we cater for all buyers. We have a wide range of vehicles available on our floors.
Apart from having the largest selection of makes and models, WeBuyCars assists consumers in choosing the correct vehicle by distinguishing between newer, lower-kilometre or better-maintained vehicles (Category A vehicles) and our older, well-used vehicles (Category B vehicles).
The vehicles are physically segregated on our floors and can be easily identified through the A and B indicators included on the price card.
All our vehicles are evaluated. Keep an eye out for our colour-coded vehicle condition stickers. WeBuyCars uses the stickers to further differentiate between vehicles:
Certified (Gold): Vehicle has no roadworthy-relevant faults, has passed (or will pass) an official roadworthy inspection, and has a complete and up-to-date service history. No service is required within the next 90 days from date of sale.
Ready (Silver): Vehicle has no roadworthy-relevant faults and will pass a formal roadworthy inspection. However, the service history may be outdated, and servicing may be required soon after purchase
Note (Bronze): Vehicle has roadworthy-relevant faults that must be repaired before it can be driven legally. It is not roadworthy in its current condition and will require reconditioning to meet legal standards.
Please use the indicator to identify the category of vehicle you are looking at and consider the terms of sale together with the returns policy when considering a purchase.
A
Category A vehicles
- These vehicles are typically in a good working order.
- They have a lower risk profile than Category B vehicles and should be usable and durable for a reasonable period of time.
- They are used vehicles with varying usage, kilometres and wear.
- As such, WeBuyCars recommends that a warranty product is bought for Category A vehicles. For your convenience, we offer a range of warranty products.
- Finance can be arranged for Category A vehicles. We have a Finance & Insurance team at each branch who will gladly assist to arrange vehicle finance for you. (Additional charges and services will apply to finance transactions.)
- Should you decide to finance the vehicle and the vehicle is sold without a valid manufacturer’s warranty, or if the manufacturer’s warranty has expired or will expire within 6 (six) months of date of purchase, we will require that you purchase a mechanical warranty that is active for at least 12 (twelve) months from the date of purchase and that provides at least R20 000 cover for major component failure such as an engine failure.
- If you prefer not to purchase a mechanical warranty from WeBuyCars, we will require proof of a comprehensive third-party warranty policy that complies with the criteria as indicated above.
- Category A vehicles may require reconditioning, mechanical checks, servicing and repair work.
- Category A vehicles’ service records may be incomplete and have not been verified.
- If the vehicle is due for a service, based on its service history and maintenance schedule, we recommend that you schedule an immediate service after taking delivery of the vehicle.
- Selected Category A vehicles are marked as “certified” or “ready”, meaning they have been evaluated and do not require repairs to pass a roadworthy test. (These vehicles are roadworthy ready – please refer to the vehicle’s condition report.)
- As a rule, the roadworthy test cost and possible repair and servicing costs are not included in in the price of the Category A vehicle.
- Category A vehicles that are "certified" can be financed immediately. (All vehicles generally need to pass a roadworthy test before banks are willing to provide bank finance to a potential buyer.)
- WeBuyCars is willing to arrange a condition evaluation, roadworthy test and possible repairs and servicing for all Category A vehicles. (Customer to pay for these services.)
- All Category A vehicles can be bought cash or through bank finance.
- These vehicles can be returned in accordance with the terms and conditions outlined in our return policy.
B
Category B vehicles
- With the sale of Category B vehicles, WeBuyCars limits its liability in terms of the Consumer Protection Act (Act 68 of 2008, “CPA”), as it is allowed to do, by pointing the following out to you:
- These vehicles are typically older than Category A vehicles and are well-used vehicles with substantial kilometres and wear and little or no proof of services and maintenance and may not be in good working order.
- Category B vehicles may require a combination of minor and major repairs, mechanical checks and servicing and may malfunction, including where the required work is not performed timeously or to the required standard.
- These vehicles are typically sold at lower prices as WeBuyCars takes into account the possible costs buyers may incur to repair and service these vehicles.
- Due to the age and/or kilometres and wear, a warranty product cannot be bought for Category B vehicles.
- Category B vehicles are sold without any warranty whatsoever, and WeBuyCars does not guarantee that Category B vehicles are mechanically in good condition.
- WeBuyCars is not responsible or liable (i.e. we do not pay for it) for required repair work or to arrange a roadworthy certificate for Category B vehicles.
- Category B vehicles may suffer mechanical problems, including (but not limited to) its engine and gearbox and may require repair work.
- WeBuyCars recommends that you should not use a Category B vehicle before it has passed a roadworthy test.
- The vehicle’s service records may be incomplete and have not been verified.
- WeBuyCars has not serviced these vehicles and we recommend that buyers schedule an immediate service after taking delivery of the vehicle, depending on the vehicle’s service history and maintenance schedule.
- Category B vehicles cannot be bought using bank finance but may qualify for a Capitec vehicle/purpose loan.
- WeBuyCars therefore requires consumers to test drive and thoroughly inspect Category B vehicles to confirm that the vehicle’s condition and specifications are adequately suited to its intended purpose.
- WeBuyCars therefore limits its responsibility and liability and will only allow customers to return vehicles under specific conditions as set out in the CPA.
