PEACE OF MIND PROTECTOR

Your 30-day extended test drive

What the Peace of Mind Protector is

When buying a vehicle with cash, you have the option to purchase the Peace of Mind Protector. This allows you to easily exchange your vehicle for a similar or higher-priced vehicle within 30 days of purchase, should you choose to do so.

Watch this video and learn more about the Peace of Mind Protector:

The Peace of Mind Protector process

  • You add the Peace of Mind Protector to your purchase.
  • After driving the vehicle for a few days, you decide to return it.
  • You visit the WeBuyCars website, log a concern, and select the “Peace of Mind” option.
  • Our team will review your request and confirm:
    • That it is within 30 days of purchase.
    • That the vehicle is in the same condition as at the time of purchase.
    • That the distance travelled does not exceed 2 000 km (R10 per km will be charged for every km over the limit).
    • That the vehicle hasn’t been modified in any way.
  • Once your exchange is approved, you’ll have 7 days to find and take delivery of a suitable replacement vehicle.

How to qualify for an exchange with the Peace of Mind Protector

The following Ts & Cs apply:

  • The vehicle must remain in the same condition as at the time of purchase.
  • The distance travelled from the day of purchase until the exchange may not exceed 2 000 km. (R10 will be charged for every kilometre travelled over the 2 000 km limit.)
  • The vehicle may not have been modified in any way.
  • Please note that the full purchase price (including the admin fee) will be credited to your account. The following items are non-refundable: Any extras such as the Peace of Mind Protector fee, servicing costs, roadworthy costs, tyres, wipers and/or battery replacement or other improvements.

The Peace of Mind Protector costs

  • For cars below R75 000: R3 000 (including VAT).
  • For cars between R75 000 and R150 000: R5 000 (including VAT).
  • For cars above R150 000: R7 500 (including VAT).

Peace of Mind Protector questions answered

What if the vehicle breaks down?

If a cash-purchased vehicle breaks down due to a pre-existing issue that was not disclosed at the time of purchase, the customer may return the vehicle under the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) and get a full refund, including the Peace of Mind Protector fee.

What if I want to exchange for a cheaper or more expensive car?

If you choose a more expensive vehicle, you’ll simply pay the difference. If you choose a cheaper vehicle (up to 10% lower in value), the remaining credit will stay on your account for future purchases, as cash refunds are not offered with the exchange option.

What transaction types qualify?

The Peace of Mind Protector can only be bought for private cash transactions. Due to the complexity of a finance deal, reversing a transaction after 30 days is not supported.

What vehicle types qualify?

The Peace of Mind Protector can only be used for passenger vehicles and motorcycles. You can speak to your sales executive to confirm if your selected vehicle qualifies for the exchange option.

What if I’m unhappy with the exchange vehicle?

After exchanging your vehicle, your existing Peace of Mind Protector would have expired. You will, however, have the option to purchase a new Peace of Mind Protector for your new vehicle. By doing so, you’ll be able to return the vehicle under the same conditions as before.

Where can I return the vehicle?

You can return the vehicle to any WeBuyCars warehouse. However, any transportation costs incurred to deliver the vehicle will be for your account. The same applies to any transportation costs for the replacement vehicle.
