What is the difference between Category A and Category B cars?

Apart from having the largest selection of makes and models, WeBuyCars assists customers in choosing the correct vehicle by distinguishing between newer, lower kilometres or better maintained vehicles (Category A vehicles) and our older, well used vehicles (Category B vehicles). The vehicles are physically segregated on our floors and can easily be identified through the A and B indicators included on the price card. Selected vehicles are marked as "certified" or "ready" meaning they have been evaluated and don’t require repairs to pass a roadworthy test. (These vehicles are roadworthy ready – please refer to vehicle’s used vehicle condition report.) They have a lower risk profile and should be usable and durable for a reasonable period of time. An extended warranty product can be bought. Finance can be arranged for Category A vehicles. May require reconditioning, mechanical checks, servicing and repair work. Service records may be incomplete and have not been verified. We recommend that you schedule an immediate service after taking delivery of the vehicle. WeBuyCars is willing to arrange a condition evaluation, roadworthy test and possible repairs and servicing. These vehicles can be returned in accordance with the terms and conditions outlined in our return policy. Category B Vehicles With the sale of Category B vehicles, WeBuyCars limits its liability in terms of the Consumer Protection Act (Act 68 of 2008, “CPA”) by pointing the following out to you: These vehicles are typically older than Category A Vehicles and are well used vehicles with substantial kilometres, wear and little or no proof of services and maintenance and may not be in good working order. May require a combination of minor and major repairs, mechanical checks and servicing and may malfunction. Sold at lower prices because WeBuyCars takes into account the possible costs buyers may incur to repair and service the vehicles. Due to the age and or kilometres and wear, these vehicles are sold without the option to buy an extended warranty product. WeBuyCars is not responsible or liable for required repair work or to arrange a roadworthy certificate. May suffer mechanical problems, including (but not limited to) its engine and gearbox and may require repair work. WeBuyCars recommends that you should not use a Category B vehicle before it has passed a roadworthy test. The vehicle’s service records may be incomplete and have not been verified. We recommend that buyers schedule an immediate service after taking delivery of the vehicle. Category B vehicles cannot be bought using bank finance. You are required to test drive and thoroughly inspect Category B vehicles to confirm that the vehicle’s condition and specifications are adequate. Vehicle Returns At WeBuyCars, there are thousands of vehicles for sale, ranging from nearly new, with very low kilometres to well used cars with substantial kilometres and wear, needing reconditioning, mechanical checks, servicing and repair. The WeBuyCars return policy therefore differentiates between lower kilometre “Category A” and well used “Category B” vehicles. WeBuyCars is committed to compliance with the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 (“CPA”) and all returns are handled in accordance with the CPA and as agreed to between the parties in terms of the applicable Terms and Conditions. A sales executive at the branch will assist you to inspect the vehicle and arrange a test drive to assess the condition of the vehicle. How does free vehicle delivery work?

Step 1. Create a WeBuyCars account or log into your existing account. Step 2. Reserve the vehicle by paying a R5 000 holding deposit. Step 3. Inspect and test drive the vehicle. (You can ask a friend or family member to test drive the vehicle on your behalf.) Step 4. Purchase the vehicle by paying the remainder of the purchase price (the purchase price minus the R5 000 holding deposit). Step 5. WeBuyCars will transport the vehicle from any branch, to your nearest (Gauteng) branch, free of charge. Step 6. Collect your vehicle from your nearest (Gauteng) WeBuyCars branch. Terms and Conditions Please take note of the following: This offer is only available for selected vehicles (as indicated). Please refer to our standard terms and conditions. Your R5 000 holding deposit becomes non-refundable once you have purchased the vehicle. A customer will forfeit their R5 000 holding deposit if they decide to not take the vehicle. How can I reserve a vehicle and what are the steps?

WeBuyCars works on a strict first-come-first-serve basis. The Reserve Now option enables you to secure a Category A vehicle for 48 hours and a Category B vehicle for 24 hours. You can reserve a Category A vehicle by paying a holding deposit of R5 000 for vehicles with a purchase price of up to R200 000 and R10 000 for vehicles with a purchase price greater than R200 000. Category B vehicles can be reserved by paying a R2 500 holding deposit. The steps to reserve a vehicle online: 1. Ensure you are signed up or logged into your WeBuyCars profile. 2. Browse all our vehicles on our website, and click on the vehicle you’re interested in. Select the Reserve Now option. 3. You will now be able to select your preferred payment method, either cash or by applying for bank finance. Finance is only available on selected vehicles. Click here for more information on our finance options. 4. Select your preferred payment method and follow the prompts. (If you’ve selected the finance option, you will be asked to complete an online finance application.) 5. Once you’ve selected a payment method and completed the requested prompts, you will be directed to the Reserve Now checkout page. Click on the “Make payment” option. 6. You will be directed to the Ozow payment portal. Please select, and log into your bank, using your internet banking profile and password. Follow your bank’s prompts and authorise the holding deposit payment. 7. Once you’ve successfully processed payment, you will be redirected to the WeBuyCars webpage. 8. They will facilitate the cancellation of the vehicle reservation and find you a more suitable vehicle or kick off the refund process on your behalf. Please note that a refund takes approximately 5 days.

What should I do if my vehicle needs repairs or has a mechanical breakdown?

OR If it has been less than six months from the date of purchase, you can submit a concern with WeBuyCars here. Vehicles bought more than 6 months ago cannot be returned. For qualifying vehicle repairs/returns: We consider each request for repairs/returns on its own merits but for us to render the best possible assistance, we need the correct information and for the vehicle to be assessed by an accredited workshop. Identification and driver's licence verification In order to proceed with the test drive, we require your consent to perform identity verification checks against relevant government agencies, including the Department of Home Affairs and RTMC, to confirm your identity and validate your driver's licence. 3. Collection of personal information You understand and consent to WeBuyCars collecting and processing personal information, including your name, address, date of birth, driver's licence number, and other relevant information necessary for identity verification and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. 4. Use of personal information Your personal information will be used solely for the purpose of confirming your identity and validating your driver's licence for the test drive. It will not be shared with any third parties unless required by law. 5. Security of personal information WeBuyCars is committed to safeguarding your personal information and will take reasonable measures to protect it from unauthorised access, use, or disclosure. 6. Consent and authorisation By participating in a test drive at WeBuyCars, you explicitly consent to the collection, processing, and verification of your personal information as described in this document. 7. Right to refuse WeBuyCars reserves the right to refuse a test drive if the identity verification process is not completed satisfactorily or if there are concerns about the authenticity of the provided information.

What documents are required to buy a vehicle?

Buying cash (as a South African): ID / Driving licence. Proof of physical address (not older than 3 months). Buying through finance (as a South African): Completed and signed application form (Individual/Company). Copy of ID. Copy of valid driver’s licence. Latest 3 months' payslips. Latest 3 months' stamped bank statements. Proof of physical address (not older than 3 months). Buying cash (as a foreigner): Passport. Traffic registration. Proof of physical address (not older than 3 months). Buying through finance (as a foreigner): A clear copy of your passport with the original work permit. A clear copy of your valid driver's licence. (Should you only be in possession of an international driver's licence it will have to be approved by the finance house and accompanied by an approval letter from your insurance company upon taking delivery of your new vehicle.) A signed copy of your employment contract. Latest 3 months' payslips. Stamped bank statements for the last 3 months. These statements must reflect your salary for the last 3 months. Internet bank statements will not be accepted. Proof of your physical address (not older than 3 months). A copy of your spouse's ID if you are married in community of property. A traffic register. *For both South African citizens and foreigners buying cash or through finance: Only original documents or certified copies are accepted.

Can you tell me more about NaTIS registrations and RC1s?

When buying a vehicle from WeBuyCars either cash or cash/retail, you may be faced with two scenarios during the post-purchase registration process: Scenario 1: This will be the traditional, manual registration process whereby the vehicle which you bought was first registered into WeBuyCars’ name manually at the registering authority (licence department). 1. You will receive an original RC1 registration certificate in the name of WeBuyCars from the WeBuyCars branch where you purchased your vehicle. RC1 is the traditional NaTIS document that we are all familiar with. 2. WeBuyCars will submit a manual Notice of Change of Ownership (NCO) to the registering authority, to notify them that the vehicle has been sold to you. 3. You will need to take the original RC1 registration certificate, together with your acceptable identification document (ID) and proof of address, to your local registering authority (licence department) within 21 days in order to register and licence the vehicle into your name. 4. Thereafter, you will receive an original RC1 registration certificate in your name from the registering authority. Please keep it safe as this is the title certificate and proof of ownership for your vehicle. Scenario 2: This will be the new online process where WeBuyCars registers the vehicle you bought into WeBuyCars’ name electronically. 1. WeBuyCars will submit an electronic Notice of Change of Ownership (NCO), notifying the registering authority that the vehicle has been sold to you. RC2 is the new form that will replace the traditional RC1 (NaTIS) document in the future. 2. You will have to log into your WeBuyCars online profile, where you will be able to download your new RC2 registration document. This document will show that the vehicle has been sold to you and will complement the NCO that has already been submitted electronically to the registering authority. 3. You will need to print a clear, legible copy of this RC2 registration document and take it, together with your acceptable identification document (ID) and proof of address, to your local registering authority (licence department) within 21 days in order to register and licence the vehicle into your name. If you are unable to print this document, you may request the administration office at the branch where you purchased the vehicle to print it for you. Please keep this document safe as it allows for the registration of your vehicle into your name to take place. If you do not have access to a printer the branch will gladly print the RC2 document for you on your request. 4. Thereafter, you will receive an original RC1 registration certificate in your name from the registering authority. Please keep it safe as this is the title certificate and proof of owner for your vehicle. Uncertain about which scenario you form part of? Upon taking delivery, the admin staff in the branch would've provided guidance as to how to obtain the relevant either RC1 or RC2 registration documents. If you were informed to download the form you would form part of the second scenario. If not, you would form part of the first scenario. If you cannot remember whether or not to download the form or if you are struggling to download the form please call us on 087 057 0000. Watch this video for more information: View video Important to note: In order for WeBuyCars to submit either a manual or electronic Notice of Change of Ownership (NCO) to notify the registering authority that the vehicle has been sold to you, you must have previously been registered on the National Traffic Information System (NaTIS). If this has not already happened, you will have to go to your local registering authority (licence department) and present your acceptable identification document (ID) and proof of address to request your introduction, and thereafter immediately inform WeBuyCars once it has been done. Only then can the NCO process be completed. In both of the above scenarios, if you have requested WeBuyCars to register your vehicle into your name, WeBuyCars will facilitate steps 3 above, provided that you are registered on the National Traffic Information System (NaTIS) and you will receive your new RC1 registration certificate from the WeBuyCars branch where you purchased your vehicle. If you have not been registered on the National Traffic Information System before, WeBuyCars can still assist. However, you would have to register yourself first whereafter the process can continue. You may also request that your RC1 registration certificate gets couriered to you by requesting this from the branch where you purchased your vehicle. This courier will be free of charge. When buying cash or cash retail, under no circumstances will WeBuyCars do the licensing for your vehicle. You will be responsible for licensing your vehicle at your local registering authority (licence department) yourself, within 21 days. Once the licensing process has been completed you will receive your new licence disk from the licensing department. Failure to register and licence your vehicle within 21 days after a Notice of Change of Ownership (NCO) has been submitted may result in penalties being added by the registering authority. Important note regarding financed vehicles: If you have financed your vehicle through a financial institution, you will not receive an original RC1 registration certificate or have access to the online RC2 registration document. These documents will be provided to the financial institution, who will remain the title holder of the vehicle until fully settled. When financing your vehicle WeBuyCars may assist with the licensing. The costs charged will be associated to the service provided. The F&I concluding the transaction with the client will elaborate and explain the terms and conditions for that particular transaction at the time of signing the contract. Disclaimer: Although WeBuyCars strives to provide you with an original RC1 registration certificate or RC2 registration document within 21 days, external factors which are beyond the control of WeBuyCars do exist, and this may on occasions delay the process.

Can a vehicle be transported to a branch closer to me?

Within reason, vehicles can be moved between the Gauteng branches, free of charge. Vehicles can be transported from any branch outside of Gauteng to any branch outside of Gauteng or to Gauteng but the cost will be for the client’s account. Costs vary from location to location and can be anything from R2 500 - R10 000. Vehicles listed on the website with a free delivery tag qualifies for free delivery from its current branch location to any of the Gauteng branches. Transportation of leisure items such as caravans use specific suppliers and a quote will be obtained at point of sale.

What do the different vehicle condition stickers mean?

Certified (Gold): Vehicle has no roadworthy-relevant faults, has passed (or will pass) an official roadworthy inspection, and has a complete and up-to-date service history. No service is required within the next 90 days from date of sale. Ready (Silver): Vehicle has no roadworthy-relevant faults and will pass a formal roadworthy inspection. However, the service history may be outdated, and servicing may be required soon after purchase. Note (Bronze): Vehicle has roadworthy-relevant faults that must be repaired before it can be driven legally. It is not roadworthy in its current condition and will require reconditioning to meet legal standards.

What can I do if I’m unable to log into my WeBuyCars account?

Forgot your password? No problem, go to “Login” on webuycars.co.za, enter your email address and click “Forgot Password?”. An email will be sent to the email address linked to your profile. This email will contain a clickable link that you would use to create a new password. Once the new password has been created you can log into your profile using the email address where the email was sent to as your username, and the password you just created as the password. Account blocked? An account can be blocked if you enter your password incorrectly too many times. It can also be blocked if you are using an email address different to the one you registered with. No need to worry, if the account is blocked because of an incorrect password you can follow the password reset procedure. If you are unable to log in completely it may be an email issue. In this instance please call WeBuyCars on 087 057 0000 and a friendly online sales agent will assist you. Please do not try to create another account if you already created one. Your account is linked to your ID number and therefore you won't be able to create another account using the same ID number.

Are your vehicle prices negotiable?

Tests are not performed on motorcycles, caravans, trailers and commercial vehicles.

Do I need a licence to buy a vehicle?

You will, however, require a learner’s licence or driving licence to register the vehicle into your name. Please note, the person driving the vehicle out of the warehouse will require a valid driving licence. When purchasing a vehicle under finance terms and conditions, the purchaser requires a driving licence.

Can I buy a bike with a learner’s licence?

When purchasing a bike under finance terms and conditions, the purchaser requires either a learner’s or a driver’s licence.
