Click here for your local Vehicle Registration and Licensing Office Contact Details.

In order to start the process you need to either complete the form on the right or phone us since we need certain information from you before we assist you.

1. Qualifying Questions:

  • Where are you based?
  • Vehicle make, model, colour and the year of first registration (Year model)?
  • Is there any damage on the vehicle?
  • Is the vehicle in running condition?
  • Is there a settlement on the vehicle or is it paid up in full and if not, do you have the original registration document for the vehicle?
  • What is the mileage on the vehicle?
  • Does the vehicle have a complete service record?
  • How long have you owned the vehicle?
  • In whose name is the vehicle registered?
  • Do you have the original registration document for the vehicle?
  • Is the vehicle’s license disk up to date?
  • When and where would it be possible to view the vehicle?
  • What price would you be looking at on the vehicle?
  • Why are you selling the vehicle?
  • When would the vehicle be available if we were to agree upon a price?
  • Please have the original registration documents as well as a copy of your ID ready when we come through
  • If there is a settlement on the vehicle, request a settlement letter from the bank and also have a copy of the letter ready.

2. Meeting and seeing

  • We have a thorough look at the car
  • We do not criticize, we may comment if you like.
  • We discuss an agreeable way for test-driving the car
  • You can come with, or we leave our own car with keys, plus one of us stays usually.
  • We drive responsibly!
  • We agree on a price and conditions of sale
  • You don't need to prepare the car
  • It must only be drivable
  • Don't spend money on it before we have seen it, we have much more affordable resources than you probably have.
  • Relax! We do it every day.

3. Documentation and paperwork

  • We do the paperwork together. We will need your ID!
  • If you have not had the car for long we need proof of residence i.e where you stay - bills for instance.
  • All of the above is negotiable if you want to use your own contract we would probably not have a problem with that.
  • Normally we pay by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), and we do Express Clearances that apply to most banks, but not to  Investec or Nedbank, where the clearnce take between 12 hours in Investec's case, or 24 hours in Nedbanks case. If you need a cash payment we need to arrange that before the time, so we can take precautions.
  • Otherwise we could pay with bank cheques too if that is your wish, but that is a bit of a shlep in comparrison with EFT's, which is by far more user-friendly.

HERE FOLLOWS MORE ON:

1.Documentation and paperwork

THREE SCENARIOS APPLY:

a.) VEHICLE IS UNDER FINANCE:

  • We need a settlement letter from the financial institution
  • The certificate of registration is with the bank and we will request it after we have settled the bank on your behalf. Relax, we do absolutely everything for you.

b.) VEHICLE WAS UNDER FINANCE BUT WAS SETTLED LONG AGO:

  • If it is settled and they have not sent you the documents, the same procedure as above applies.

c.) VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT CASH, YOU ARE TITLE HOLDER AND OWNER:

For us to buy the vehicle we need a copy of your ID as well as the valid original certificate of registration. If you do not have that – see elsewhere on site for the procedure to apply for a duplicate registration certificate. Click Here for that Procedure.

2. Payment structure and procedures

Depending on the structure of the deal there are a number of different payment options and protocols:

  • If there is no settlement on a vehicle and if the client has the original registration documents and the vehicle is immediately available, the full amount can be paid immediately and the car taken away on confirmation of payment.
  • If there is no settlement on a vehicle and if the client has the original registration documents but the vehicle is not immediately available, a deposit can be paid and a later collection date arranged
  • If there is no settlement on the vehicle and the client does not have the original registration document and ownership can be confirmed and the vehicle is immediately available, the full amount can be paid with R5000.00 retention held back, payable on receipt of outstanding original registration document.
  • If there is a settlement on the vehicle and the settlement is lower than the agreed upon price, We Buy Cars will pay the full settlement and the difference will immediately be paid to the client
  • If there is a settlement and the settlement is higher than the agreed upon price, the client is to pay the remaining balance to the bank first and send proof of payment to We Buy Cars on receipt of which We Buy Cars will pay the offered amount over to the respective financial institution
  • If there is a settlement amount and the settlement amount is lower than the amount offered and the vehicle is not available immediately, We Buy Cars will settle the vehicle in full and the balance of the amount will be paid to the client 24 hours prior to collection of the vehicle.

Some people are very sentimental about their cars, especially the ladies, so we would try our best to find a suitable owner for your car, who would treat it with the same tender loving care you have!

So just give one of us a call and we will get you sorted out!

Comments

It is not a prerequisite that you submit photos too, you can just skip this step if you have not got photos. Or else you may just send me a cell-phone photo or two with MMS to 082 870 1500. You could also send it to your E-Mail and then from there save it to your computer from where this Online Facility can upload it into the Online Application. Unlike many other such forms on the internet I can assure you this one is live and we do respond at the latest the next day. However, we have to prioritize, that is why we ask that you call or follow up if you have not received an answer within 24 hours.

Hi all, We would highly recommend selling a vehicle through webuycars. We were referred to them by our neighbour, who also simply could not believe how quick and easy his car was sold. These guys move at the speed of light! We were fortunate to have dealt with Dirk, Faan, Ricky and Ernest at webuycars over a two-day period. During this same period, we put in a call to a competitor in order to gauge the service (and obviously to get the best price). Webuycars have since (in two days) made an appraisal of the vehicle, took it for a test drive, transferred the funds, and collected the vehicle from us for resale. Meanwhile, we're still (two days later) waiting for their competitor to simply phone us back... Thank you everyone at webuycars! Your service is fast and highly professional - we will most definitely recommend you to everyone who is interested in selling a vehicle. Lastly - bear in mind that all of the above were done for us by webuycars, without us having to have stepped a foot out of our home. Thank you again! Regards, Ian Ian de Jager | 10th November 2011

im driving a new car(2012Getz-14000km). purchase price was R131000 but setlement is about R148000. i want to sell it but the problem is i don't have money at the moment to pay the difference. will you be able to help Moze There is only one way, maybe two ways out of this problem, you either sell it and pay in the difference, or you register for Debt Counselling, or you get Liquidated. I think it is not such a bad idea to get liquidated. Especially if you are prone to end up in such a situation, I think it is better to get along without any debt ever. Dirk

Hi, have a vehicle I would like to sell. The car is not yet registered in my name. I have all the documentation and papers from the owner. Would you guys be interested? No. Unfortunately due to corruption and bad administration we can no longer afford to buy a car where we the Title-Holder of the vehicle is not present or have left adequate documentation to authorise the other party to act on their behalf. We may sometimes make exceptions, but is mostly in cases where we feel a sense of security and trust due to the fact that the person is someone with obvious merits leading us to a point where we feel we can trust such a person and make an exception, but generally speaking the answer is a definite no sir - sorry.

Hi there, I am so confused and was wondering if anyone could help? I have bought a 2nd hand vehicle 5 days ago, all the paperwork is in order, the blue and yellow forms have been filled in. It will take me longer than 21 days for my mechanic to fix all the little inconsistencies, which means I cannot roadworthy before that date. Can I still change ownership of the vehicle and then get roadworthy done after the 21 days grace period? Or do I have to scrap the vehicle and then later go through the whole mission again? i.e. after the 21 days when the mechanic has sorted it out? Anyways, if anyone could give me some advice I would really appreciate it. Thanks a lot and God Bless. Kyle Very intelligent and very useful question. Here is the answer: You go to your local roadworthy center, or phone them first. You ask to do the Transaction to Register the vehicle without Roadworthy or License. Same paperwork as otherwise, accept you do not submit Roadworthy yet, but you still have to do it later, otherwise they do not issue your license Disc. Also ask about acquiring a Permit, then you can even drive it around for a while - legally - but keep in mind if you register without Roadworthy or License Disc, you will still need to pay License Fees up-to-date, and you still pay the fees associated with normal registration, and you will get issued a new certificate of registration.

IM BUYING MERCEDES BENZ S500, SE500, S600, SEL 500. BETWEEN 1990 TO 1998 MODEL. PLEASE CALL ME FOR FURTHER DETAILS. Romeo It is something you are most likely to find with Autotrader, Junkmail, or Carfind. But have a look at our Stock on www.atterburymotors.co.za. However, be warned - these are exceptionally expensive to maintain, that is why they sell for a song. THink to yourself, what are you going to do if the Gearbox fails, or the On-board Computer? That is why we are so highly reluctant to sell these under the consumer law. This law does not apply for private individuals selling their own private cars. Thanks Romeo, 083 8818 468/031 8292 559
