Buying new is relatively simple compared to buying a used vehicle.
The primary reason people consider buying a used vehicle is to avoid the great initial drop in re-sale value experienced in the early life of the new vehicle.
What makes buying used complicated is the array of variables involved i.e:
- Age
- Mileage
- Make
- Model
- Size
- Configuration
- Economy
and associated ratios between
- Economy
- Price
- Age
- Size
- Reliability
AS AN EXAMPLE:
You might be absolutely blown away to see that big BMW 540 you could buy for the same money that buys a New Polo Vivo.
The obvious difference lies in economy to run and maintain the vehicle.
Due to this array of choices in models, age and economies it is important to do the following:
- Needs analysis
- Identify the different cars that conform
- Test drive a few of them
Now, most importantly, decide on one particular make and model and focus your efforts on evaluating and assessing as many of these as you can, rather than staggering between too many choices of makes and models.
PS:
Hiring a car may also be a good way of evauluating and comparing a car!
