When your vehicle has been registered with a personalized number plate we cannot re-register the vehicle in our business name and you also cannot keep the number plates until the plates have been “lifted” or “released”.
The procedure is relatively quick and easy and can be done at your local roadworthy or license and registration office.
THE PROCEDURE:
When you registered your personalized number plate on your vehicle you should have received a PRN (PERSONALISED REGISTRATION NUMBER)* Certificate.
You will need to take this PRN certificate, proof of residence and a certified copy of your ID along to the registration office in order to complete the process.
They will give you an MVR3 form to complete. Fill out sections C,D and E.
If you are no longer in possession of the PRN certificate, you need to request a new one.
In order to request a PRN Certificate you need to take your vehicle registration document, along with proof of residence and copy of your ID to your local roadworthy or license and registration office.
Once the personal number has been successfully “lifted” or “released”, we can do the necessary change of ownership and you can put your personal plates on your new vehicle.
